SaaS is Dead, But I'll See What I Can do
Keep producing software. While big software may be dead and dying, small software is well and truly alive.
Everyone I talk to seems to believe the sky is falling on big SaaS. That may be true, but I don't think software is dead.
It seems to me there has never been a better time to make things. When we look past the techno-doomism, what I see is people building. Solutions that never would have sprouted up are growing overnight. It's a clustered mess with no real clear dev-ops to support it. There's security bugs abound.
It's beautiful.
When every single person can make, I think that makes the world a cooler place. If that means paid subscription SaaS dies, then maybe that's an okay price to pay for people to build micro software for their every need.
