I love my dumb(er) watch
I finished my marathon in under 4hrs, so I bought myself a Forerunner 165 as a gift. It's a GPS watch from Garmin. It tracks my runs and gives me basic stats like distance, splits, heart rate, estimated VO2, etc. It's also water proof.
Its retail price now is $200.
At first, I debated getting an Apple Watch or something a bit smarter than the 165. After all, the 165 doesn't even have a speaker or a microphone.
However, within a day, I turned off any small smart features it had, like alerting on texts.
It feels like I've been transported back two decades. I wear my watch, it tells me the time, and occasionally reminds me to go to bed a bit earlier. It's an amazing running watch and it doesn't contribute to the epidemic of attention grabbing applications.
I love my dumb(er) watch.
