Companion Movie Review

Companion is one of the rare movies I advise you to know nothing about going in. At the bare minimum, you may know it is a thriller/suspense movie that focuses on a love story. Stop there

Google no further.

I will tell you how it made everyone feel. I invited my entire family along - father, mother, sister, in-laws, in-laws boyfriends. Most movies, when you exit the theater it's done. You might comment on whether you liked or did not like it. Maybe you shuffle around a bit while people use the restroom.

Not Companion

This is a movie where all eight of us closely bunched around the exit after our 6:25PM showing in a little AMC movie theater in Deer Valley. Everyone chattering excitedly to give their point of view on the film. Talking through details someone else missed. A plot point they loved. Something that caught them by surprise. Arguing on whether one character was a "good" or "bad" guy.

Those movies are rare. So, my recommendation is to find people you love, convince them to go in blind, buy a big thing of popcorn, strap in, and enjoy the ride.

5/5 stars. If this is a sign of how 2025's film scene is going to be like, then we are in for a good year.
