AMC A-List
I love AMC A-List. Mock me like Nicole Kidman, but there is something special about going to a movie theater.
Being able to walk into a place where all distractions are taken away is magical. In a space where I am constantly available via phone with pings, notifications, etc - I love being able to lock myself into a comfortable chair and experience a movie. In all my other hobbies, it is tempting to pick up my phone and in some it is mandatory. Even take miniature painting, you can lock the phone away, but almost all of us use reference pictures or guides, which inevitably leads to pulling the phone back out. Movie theaters are special.
AMC's app has nearly replaced searching for movies for me. I probably would not have discovered movies like Strange Darling if I did not have AMC. I love that every week I have that excuse to push myself to try new things and set aside time where I cannot possibly be distracted or tempted.
Mandatory date nights are awesome. I know it might be a case of product induced demand, but I love that my wife and I have a good reason to get out of the house at least every other week to justify the membership. It leads to both of us having an easy way to take a night to be with each other, even if we're both too exhausted to plan anything. The conversation we have with the movie spurs the rest of the night and gives us something to talk about during the week. It's simple, but it's effective.
All that for $20 a month? It seems like a bargain for me.
Oh, and if you pick up some AMC stock, you can find yourself with a once a quarter bribe reward like an ICEE you get to enjoy.
