Agile is a Lie

Every high performing team I've seen in my life doesn't use Agile.

Sure, there may be scrum ceremonies and a kanban board, but they don't play by the rules. They laugh at planning poker and roll their eyes at grooming.

The issue with modern project management is that we've taken the tools of the trade and complicated them to the point where it feels like they can only be done by utter masters who can speak the language.

Project management is hard, but it is not complicated. Keeping people on task, managing budget, identifying alternatives, etc. is difficult, but it does not take a master to learn them. There are guides and tools and most people have been exposed to it.

The issue is we overcomplicate it to the point where people can make entire jobs out of teaching others the crazy, contrived systems we've created.

Simplify. Get things done. Help others. Don't block workflow.
